Summary:
Book One in the Magic Kingdom of Landover Series Landover was a genuine magic kingdom, with fairy folk and wizardry, just as the advertisement promised. But after he purchased it, Ben Holiday learned that there were a few details the ad had failed to mention. The kingdom was in ruin. The Barons refused to recognize the king, and the peasants were without hope. A dragon was laying waste the countryside, while an evil witch plotted to destroy everything. Ben's only followers were the incompetent Court Magician; Abernathy, the talking dog who served as Court Scribe; and the lovely Willow - but she had a habit of putting down roots in the moonlight and turning into a tree. The Paladin, legendary champion of the Kings of Landover, seemed to be only a myth and an empty suit of armor. To put a final touch on the whole affair, Ben soon learned that the Iron Mark, terrible lord of the demons, had challenged all prospective Kings of Landover to a duel to the death - a duel which no human could hope to win. The task of proving his right to be King seemed hopeless. But Ben Holiday was stubborn...

My Thoughts:
I was not that sure what to expect from this book. I would never put a light comedy and Terry Brooks together, especially with his epic Swords of Shannara series. It was a pleasant surprise that I stepped into with the  Magic Kingdom for Sale—Sold. It has a great balance of comic relief and adventure in this book.

The cast in this book, I have not quite read before well...Terry Prachett, but that is a different ball game. This is a perfect first read for my challenges(Once Upon A Time and A Humor in It All). This book anyone can read from a fantasy genre addict or somebody that just wants to wade into a fantasy world.

I will be continuing this series in NEAR future. I sure am glad for Good Reads recommendations..;)

If you have read this book, what were your thoughts this book?

Once Upon a Time VI

I just cannot believe that it this time of the year ALREADY. I participated in the reading event that Carl has been hosting for the past 6 years. I saw his post on the google reader and figured that I was participate once again..:) The challenge spans from March 21st to June 19th. He has a varied number of quests that you the read can choose to conquer. The most important thing to do is have fun during this challenge. The quest that I decided to sleigh is:

This quest guidelines are as follows. Read at least 5 books that fit somewhere within the Once Upon a Time categories. They might all be fantasy, or folklore, or fairy tales, or mythology…or your five books might be a combination from the four genres.

Once Upon A Time

I finally started watching the series Once Upon A Time that is airing Sunday Nights on ABC. I am happy that we(my wife and I) have a DVR. Is a DVR not one of the best inventions? My wife not even seeing the show until this morning, has been saying that it looks stupid an/or dumb. She watched the show while she was on the iTouch(as always). Mrs. GD said that the show was that as bad as she originally thought.

If anyone was wondering  a quick synopsis of the series:Once Upon A Time centers on a woman(Emma) with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine by where son where the magic and mystery of Fairy Tales just may be real.

I am not a movie critic or anything, but I think that this series thus far has pretty good flow from one episode to the next. It also switches throughout he show between the real world(Maine..HA) and the Enchanted Forest. This show may be based  fairy tales, but I would some youngsters to watch the show.

So far in the show the Evil Queen or Mayor whatever she is called. Is doing everything is her power to keep her(Evil Queen) happiness compromised. So yes I will continue to watch this show on Sundays or whenever I get the time to watch it.This show has an alternate history type of a feel to it as well. If this happened how different the future could have turned out. I hope that I have persuaded some of you to give this show a shot in the dark.
